Newly lifted in this September’s harvest, are the delightful rosy Pink Fir Apple potatoes.
Over at Morghew, it was really pouring with rain, so the tractor had been abandoned and a team of local lads were out trudging in the fields picking by hand.
Pink Fir Apple potatoes love the Sussex soil and are a massive favourite with our chefs. Their waxy firm flesh has a distinctive nutty, buttery taste which makes mouthwateringly good roast potatoes. Just scrub and the rosy skin brightens when it’s cooked through.
This recipe in Delicious Magazine combines the probably perfect garlic and thyme with the roast potatoes, which is absolutely tantalising while they are cooking…we ate pretty much most of the potatoes before they ever reached the table.
